The devastation in Haiti is disturbing, heartbreaking, and literally incomprehensible.
I researched some charities today, and if you want to give something, these are two that are really good and put the money where it's needed:
From Amazon: "Holy cow, this book should be a huge success. It has everything: nuns, conjoined twins, civil war, and medicine — I was thinking that if Vikram Seth and Oliver Sacks were to collaborate on a four-hour episode of Grey’s Anatomy set in Africa, they could only hope to come up with something this moving and entertaining…. A marvelous novel!” Mark Salzman
I'm on board with this, I love it when nuns are involved in a story line.
From Amazon: "In 1954, in the cookhouse of a logging and sawmill settlement in northern New Hampshire, an anxious twelve-year-old boy mistakes the local constable’s girlfriend for a bear. Both the twelve-year-old and his father become fugitives, forced to run from Coos County–to Boston, to southern Vermont, to Toronto–pursued by the implacable constable. Their lone protector is a fiercely libertarian logger, once a river driver, who befriends them.
Since my husband is from Coos County aka, lumberjack country, I thought this would give me a little more insight to that crazy place he is from. Sounds like a trip down memory lane.
Parker's Beef Stew from Ina Garten. That's right, it calls for one whole bottle of wine, baby.
I’d like to watch that crab show, Mom.
— Little nephew Matt, on what favoriite show should he watch from his sickbed. He meant the Deadliest Catch.
