The Mars and Venus of Music

I’m playing with some new widgets today, and I’ve decided to conduct a completely unscientific poll.

Over the weekend when I was hijacked by spring, we flipped on the outdoor speakers. Which are fabulous to sit outside and relax by.

BUT.

We have a rather large music collection on the house. I don’t always like everything in the library, but when played within certain sets of music, I’m totally cool with it.

A certain husband likes to play the whole library on random. So you might hear Eric Clapton, and then Sting, and you are all relaxed. Abruptly, the music switches to a John Denver, Counting Crows, Judy Garland mini-set. Suddenly, I feel like Sybil. Discord reigns supreme, multiple personalities start to come forth! How can I possibly get a mellow groove down????

Are we truly on different planets here?

So readers, how do you like to hear you music played? No pressure here.

  3. I like my music to have a theme. My daughter and I make mix CDs and give them names. My favorites are….

Women Who Rock And Other Fabulous Females.
Mom and Allison’s Trip To The Beach.
    Mom’s Mission To Miami
    Jeanne’s Soft Favorites

That voting widget is, as my 3-year-old grandson puts it, bewwy tool!
I’m about music much as I am about lighting: I can’t stand overheads without good ambient light and some low-level desk lamps; why is it guys are okay with a single overhead?! I can’t bear jumping from genre to genre in my music. Steely Dan goes with Bela Fleck. Sting can coexist with James Taylor and even with Bonnie Raitt, but do NOT throw any Talking Heads in there! You may be an HSP, my dear; it’s a proud club. More about that later.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

It totally depends on my mood, when I am not paying attention to my music collection (like writing an essay, applying for jobs, daydreaming) then I kind of like to have it on shuffle.

But if I’m trying to achieve a certain mood (or relaxation for example) then a specific playlist is paramount.
